“Week leading into Texas I struggled with jet lag from Dubai, picked up a bug/headcold. 2 days prior to racing I was in bed trying to shift it.

I was unsure which way the race would go.

Swim felt flat, couldn’t get on anyone’s feet as I didnt have any power at the beginning and struggled to breath, nose was blocked. Getting onto the bike my power was off by 25w and after the turnaround my glutes started to cramp and I couldn’t transfer any power pushing into the headwind. Once I got off the bike for the first couple of k’s I had to jog off the cramp in glutes but managed to pick pace up through the run. Finishing in 9th 4:23hr.
Frustrating performance for me but a race banked non the less.
