2021
We can finally talk more about results and performances rather than cancellations/postpone, in fact @faldumgabor and @simone_s_mitchell have brought up the PPR colors around the world this weekend🚀🙏🏻
Gabor finished the European Cup in Melilla in 10th place with a good performance at the first race of the year, staying with the leaders until the end, finishing less than a minute from the winner, this is only the beginning the best is yet to come🔥📈
Simone instead ends in 5th place at the Ironman 70.3 Florida with a bit of disappointment about the sensations, here his words:
“Florida 5th.
Swim: the front pack went ahead and I had clear water, I kept my head down and focussed on getting to each turn bouy, there was 6. It was nice to break the swim up. Didn’t feel overly great in the water but I feel that’s where my swim is right now.
Coming out of the water into transition I made a quicker turn around than my normal so I was happy with that, getting onto the bike I felt my heart rate was really high from the beginning and my legs just wasn’t there again. Hoping they would warm up into the ride I was already 40w down as planned. Heather Jackson and Lisa cycled past me and yet again I couldn’t go with. I had to stick at what I could push and regulate the heart rate. Pretty much biked the rest on my own, was hard not to feel disappointed that yet again the body just wasn’t responding. Once I got onto the run I knew it was going to be a tough one, heart rate was high and I just couldn’t push, legs felt strong on the run but I could feel the heat, I tried to make up time to 4th but I could feel I was going backwards. Focussed on each aid station and getting fluids / coke in.
Above anything I’m proud of my effort. It’s easy to push when you feel good and know the body will let you, but difficult on the reverse.
I learnt many lessons in Texas and Florida and I’m happy I gritted my teeth and got through them. For now it’s time to take some chill time and start asking questions. I know what my body can do, I have proven that to myself in training. We need to work out what’s happened over the last few weeks.”
